Rodney Wharton

I was a pupil at Roxeth Manor from the age of 4.
That was from 1950 until I left the Senior School at age 16.
My name is Rodney Wharton and I lived in Malvern Avenue just two roads behind the
school back gate, and home to the school playing fields.
I now live in Las Vegas with my American Wife.
I remember my classmates well.
We all took the same journey from infants to seniors and left this great school with the tools needed to face the world.
If any of my old mates remember me and wish to get in touch, I would be very pleased to hear from them.
Good luck to the School, although I'm sure it maintains the same traditions and standards that made us all good people.

Rodney Wharton.

Hi again Syd, I've just been on the website.
What a shame that those two great pubs burned down.
I've had many a good time in both of them.
I recognise some of the girls in the school photo.
Anyway, I caught the music bug whilst at Roxeth Manor.
Just about everyone wanted to be Hank Marvin.
A few of us made our own guitars. I went on to become
a professional guitarist and toured Germany in the mid sixty's.
When I returned I met up with my old buddy Peter Burt (Drummer extraordinare and brother of Micky Burt who was then with The Rebel Rousers and now Chas and Dave)
We formed a band called HogSnortRupert and played locally at places like The Eastcote Arms, Harrow Borough Football Club and for many years took the Sunday Night Spot at The Clay Pigeon.
In 1974 I married and moved to the Cotswolds, but the band carried on with Bill Turberville as the lead guitarist.
Alas, Bill died a few years later.
Anyway my marriage split up in 1999 and I came to America to start anew.
I formed a great band in Pennsylvania, and we toured successfully for 4 years. I re-married, gave it all up and now live in Las Vegas, play a lot of golf.
I return to Blighty every so often to see my kids and old friends.
I usually stay in Pinner with Eileen Ingrams the past owner of the Clay
Pigeon.
She's now 82 years old.
Best regards.
Rodney Wharton.
